Iran to export agricultural products to Russia

TEHRAN, Oct. 12 (MNA) – During a bilateral meeting in Moscow, Iran and Russian Ministers of Agriculture stressed the expansion of economic relations in the fields of agriculture and food products.

On the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting, Mahmoud Hojjati, Iran’s Minister of Agriculture met with his Russian counterpart Nikolai Fyodorov and announced Iran’s readiness to export various agricultural products especially vegetables, protein and horticultural products to Russia.

“Iran is ready to export these agricultural products to Russia and in return import some engineering and technical services, cooking oil and some grain products,” said Hojjati.

He also maintained that the two countries have agreed to form a working committee composed of senior government officials and experts from the private sector.

The Russian minister, in turn, pointed to Iran’s capacities to promote agricultural cooperation and stressed the need to form joint institutions to help provide the necessary infrastructure for facilitating trade between the two countries and dealing with agricultural trade fluctuations.
